Their muscles twitch into motion fractions of a second before contact, their toes recoil in anticipation, their knee flexes with absurd precision. Carrying a load that would bring others to their knees, the Paragon seems unaffected, running uphill with disconcerting ease.
Their wounds are caulked with salt. A blindfold protects their eyes against the toxic spores hanging in the air. They press on, optimising every step, relentless in their goal.
The air crackles around them, charged particles springing into existence and collapsing. Gravel and sand shift around as if whipped up by thousands of little storms. The smell of petrichor follows them wherever they go.
